MORE THAN ULTRASONIC ATOMIZER

rePowder is a highly flexible materials design system on the market. It enables material alloying, casting, and powder atomization within a single setup.

The standard configuration can be easily upgraded through customizable options, such as various feeding devices or casting methods, enabling the processing of any material and feed.

INDUCTION AND PLASMA: ALLOY AND ATOMIZE ANY MATERIAL

» In the metallurgical field: there are few alloy-processing methods that are simultaneously suitable for tin-based solders and refractory alloys.

» Arc melting is an important method for producing titanium and zirconium-based alloys.

⋅ However, when the ingot, alloy, and plasma arc come into contact, volatile elements undergo severe evaporation.
⋅ When particles pass through a DC plasma arc, ultrasonic atomization encounters the same issue.
» Utilizing an induction-based system, the chemical composition of processed alloys can be easily controlled regardless of their melting point.

» The rePowder system employs two processing methods to achieve maximum R&D flexibility and optimal powder quality.

» Atomization feedstock can be prepared in the rePowder system without any auxiliary equipment.

RAISE YOUR POWDER QUALITY

With rePowder, you can produce fine powders with excellent flowability—making them ideally suited for additive manufacturing and other powder metallurgy processes. The d50 particle size range of the powder depends on the frequency selected:

40 kHz: 40–60 μm
20 kHz: 80–100 μm

Therefore, powders suitable for AM can be produced quickly and efficiently, regardless of the process involved.

For both induction atomization and plasma-based atomization, the process is carried out in an inert gas atmosphere, typically argon. Depending on the research objectives, reactive gases can also be introduced to produce core–shell particles. When induction melting is employed, the process can further be conducted under vacuum.

FEEDSTOCK IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM

Any material can be melted and atomized without prior preparation.

• 3D-printed parts that failed
• Strip-shaped
• Wire rod
• Bar stock
• Powder particles (too large in size)

Even if the raw materials are irregularly shaped or difficult to control.

• Simply cast it in rePowder and then atomize the powder.

The automatic feeder can be used for continuous atomization.

• For example, using metal wires, metal rods, or even non-spherical powders.

Ultrasonic Atomization - Principle

Unlike the high-speed gas used in aerosolization equipment VIGA/EIGA
» rePowder:
√ Utilizes high-intensity ultrasonic vibration to atomize molten metal into fine droplets, which then solidify to form spherical powder.
• Operates similarly to an ultrasonic humidifier, but at a higher temperature.
√ Due to the absence of high-speed gas:
⋅ The particle velocity is very low, ranging between 100 mm/s and 250 mm/s.
⋅ Therefore, rePowder devices can be miniaturized.
⋅ It also does not cause powder to splash or adhere to the chamber walls (wall sticking).
√ Raw material melting method:
⋅ Continuously poured onto a vibrating surface after induction melting
⋅ Direct melting via plasma arc on the ultrasonic device
